Fire risk assessment workflow research
I am an independent software developer in the Netherlands. I am trying to
understand how UK fire risk assessors get from a site visit to a finished
PAS 79 / BS 9792 report — and which parts of that still
happen in Word, email or a spreadsheet.
This research is being prepared; invitations have not started. Initial
preparation uses company websites and Companies House records. Any later
invitation will identify the actual source of the contact details and
explain how they are used. This round will not use website contact forms
or LinkedIn direct messages.
There is nothing for sale here
I have no product on the market, no price list, no waiting list and no
newsletter. There is no sign-up form on this page on purpose. I am asking
ten assessors the same three questions, and I will send everyone who
answers the anonymised summary of all ten answers.
The three questions
- Between leaving site and sending the finished report, which single
task still happens in Word, email or a spreadsheet rather than in a
tool?
- Roughly how long does that one task take per report, and is that time
billable to the client or absorbed by you?
- Have you tried software for it? If you stopped using it, what made
you stop?
A single line for each is genuinely useful. A "no thanks" is fine too.
What happens to your answer
- I keep it to work out whether there is a real, repeated problem worth
building for. The written decision at the end of this may well be that
there isn't.
- Published findings are anonymised: no names, no company names, and no
quote that would identify you or a client.
- I do not sell or publish contact details. Email and hosting providers
support the service. I do not add advertising trackers or marketing
analytics; hosting providers may process technical access logs.
- Details, including how to have your details deleted:
how I handle your data.
Not hearing from me again
If you receive a research invitation, reply "stop", or email me, and I will
stop contacting you and remove unnecessary research details. I retain only
a minimal do-not-contact record. The planned invitation process allows at
most one unanswered-message reminder and none after a refusal.
